The Bulgarian Medicines Verification Organisation took part in the 12th edition of the forum Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Days 2018, which took place at the International Fair in the town of Plovdiv. The event is associated with the celebration of Enyovden - the National Pharmacist Day in Bulgaria and this year its theme was "Falsified Drugs - the Role and Place of the Pharmacist".

Mrs. Illiana Paunova, Executive Director of BgMVO, presented the Implementation of the European system for verification of medicinal products in Bulgaria, focusing mainly on the obligations of the participants in the legal supply chain according to Directive 2011/62/EU and the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161 to come in force as of February 9th, 2019.

Mr. Charles Young, representative of Solidsoft Reply, the company selected to implement and maintain the European Hub and the National Medicines Verification System in Bulgaria, made a general presentation of the technical specifics of the implementation of the European Medicines Verification System. Solidsoft Reply had a dedicated stand at the fair where Mr. Mark Usher presented VeriLite, a web-based medicines verification application. Representatives of Bulnex and Comitex demonstrated different models of 2D barcode scanners.

At the interactive workshop Verification in action Alcor Soft and Gamma Consult representatives presented their software solutions in operation and explained how they will enable pharmacies and wholesalers to fulfil their obligations for authentication and decommissioning of the unique identifiers of prescription medicinal products in the system.

The forum was attended by more than 1 000 participants - representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, state institutions, the academia, manufacturers, distributors and healthcare professionals.
