The participants were acquainted with the legislative framework related to medicines verification in the EU and Bulgaria, and the importance of Medicines Verification System for patients’ protection from falsified medicines in the context of COVID 19 pandemic. The practical aspects of pharmacies and hospital pharmacies' obligations in the process of medicines verification were presented.
The lecture was followed with great interest by the audience. Asked by Mrs. Velina Grigorova, Chairwoman of the Board of the Organization of Hospital Pharmacists in Bulgaria, “How to restore the value of packages under quarantine”, Mr. Bogdan Kirilov, Executive Director of BDA answered that if the reason for the quarantine is outside the pharmacy, the financial responsibility should not remain with the pharmacist; the system allows traceability throughout the supply chain and the responsibility should be borne by the party or person where the root cause for the quarantine is.
The conference was attended by hospital pharmacists from all over the country, representatives of hospitals, healthcare institutions, and the pharmaceutical sector.
